Will it be the END of NYFW?
I’ve already made a post about the changes and the end of fashion weeks (here) and the facts do not let me lie. New York fashion week, which begins on 07/09, has had its line up of brands reduced. Very reduced!
What happens is that the big brands decided to change their parades to other countries, like Paris. Strategy? Marketing? Crisis? We do not know for sure, but it seems that the week will be much calmer than the previous ones.
The classic and super-expected parades of Thom Browne, Altuzarra and Lacoste will be presented in Paris this September season. These brands have been exhibiting their collections for years at the same location, or at strategic locations in NYC. My Google Maps is already going to Milk Studios alone!
Tommy Hilfiger, who presents his new collection in partnership with Gigi Hadid, makes his fashion show in London. Tommy has been presenting his collections in different places since last season, when his parade happened in California.
Ralph Lauren, another American classic, presents his collection in Bedford, still in the state of NYC, but in his own home. Getting back to the essence with Ralph Lauren, I confess that I am anxious for what awaits us.
In addition to these changes some other designers like Narciso Rodriguez, who has always opted to show his collection with parade, this year makes presentations focused on buyers. Proenza Shouler and Rodarte changed their parades for the timing of Haute Couture Week in Paris.
Without these big names, New York Fashion Week will start giving space to new names and stylists. Maybe this is not the goal ?!
